REX - Regional Experience

REX - Regional Experience

The Regional EXperience (REX) Program is a community-led initiative that grew from an idea to attract student teachers to the regional towns of Collinsville and Dysart for work placements.

Since 2014, the REX Program has enabled students from James Cook University to undertake practical experience in a wide variety of disciplines including teaching, engineering, geology, pharmacy, nursing and town planning. Placement periods depend on your area of study but are generally available in April and July.

The REX Program aims to provide students opportunities in their chosen area of study; foster working relationships between students and industry; and attract young professionals to the region following completion of their studies.

The best part about the REX Program?

Students are supported through their placement with accommodation and all meals. All you have to do is get yourself to Collinsville or to Dysart.

You will be invited to participate in some community activities, take a tour of the local mine and experience what it is like to live in a small regional town.

You will have direct contact with potential future employers and may even be offered the opportunity to join one of the host organisations upon completion of your studies.

Applications are now closed for 2018.
