Thank you for your interest in joining JCU's College of Medicine and Dentistry. Through teaching and research excellence, we are committed to producing graduates who go on to rural and regional careers. JCU is focused on training a fit-for-purpose regional, rural and remote health workforce to ensure a future where communities can be confident of equitable access to high-quality health care close to home. Through JCU's undergraduate courses, research, specialist GP training program, and collaboration in Northern Queensland Regional Training Hubs, JCU is committed to making a difference to the health of underserved communities.
All of this happens in some of the most interesting places in the world. In JCU Townsville and JCU Cairns, students and staff are part of, and serve, a range of diverse communities. JCU undergraduate medicine, pharmacy and dentistry students have a positive rural experience throughout their degree, seeing first-hand the implications of the lack of healthcare services in regional, rural and remote communities. Students undertake a high number of clinical placements in regional, rural and remote Australia and benefit from a wide breadth of experience where they develop a strong level of clinical skills. It is these experiences that ensure they are well equipped when they graduate to work in regional, rural and remote communities and beyond.
We are pleased that you are interested in joining us on this journey to make rural health matter. We look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Professor Sarah Larkins
Dean of the College of Medicine and Dentistry
