There are many external scholarships made available by government departments, business and industry groups that you may be eligible to apply for.

Lambert McBride Perpetual Bursary
Mr McBride believed in the value of education for progress and encouraged Indigenous people to get a good education. This Bursary provides the opportunity for one Indigenous tertiary student studying in any field at a Queensland higher education institution to continue Mr McBride's legacy through a one-off grant of $5,000 to assist with study expenses.
Open to: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, completed first or second year of study.

Rural & Regional Enterprise Scholarships
The Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships Program (RRESP) has been introduced to improve access to and completion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) tertiary education courses for students from regional and remote areas in Australia.  The Government announced it will expand the Program, investing an extra $34.1 million to support an additional 1,955 Scholarships. This additional investment means that the Program will be able to increase the total number of Scholarships available from 1,200 to 3,155.
Open to: Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, holders of permanent humanitarian visas, or New Zealand citizens living in Australia who's permanent home address is in a regional or remote area as defined by the Australian Statistical Geography standard (ASGS).

The House Call Doctor Futures in Health Indigenous Scholarship
Open to: Australian citizens or permanent residents who identify as Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander over 18 years of age. Be an undergraduate/ postgraduate student studying a medical/ health field at an Australian University. Entering at least your 2nd year of study in 2019.

Leisa Goddard Scholarship for Excellence in Media
Open to: Undergraduate students studying a journalism/public relations/or communications field at an Australian University who will be entering or already in their final year of study in 2019.

Sparesbox Innovator of the Future Scholarship
Open to: Full-time or part-time students majoring in Business, Marketing, Management, Commerce or any Business-related course at a University based in Australia.
Value: Up to $5,000 and an offer of a 6 week paid internship at Sparesbox HQ at a mutually agreed time.

Bernie Singleton Scholarship
Open to: Full-time students who identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, from a Cape York community who are currently enrolled at a University or have been accepted for placement to a University, in Health or Management related studies.
Value: Up to $7,500 over 3 years.

2019 Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Scholarship
Open to: First year undergraduate students from a rural or regional location studying full-time in 2019.

Neville Bonner Memorial Scholarship
Open to: Indigenous Australians of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are accepted as such by the Indigenous Australian community in which they live or have lived. Must be currently enrolled (or have been enrolled) in a course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Bachelor with majors relevant to the enrollment in an Honours year in political science (or related subjects) at a recognised Australian university. Candidates must also have been offered a place in Honours in 2019 or have good reason to believe they will be offered a place.

Australian Rotary Health Scholarships
Open to: Australian citizens, Australian Permanent Residents, or New Zealand citizens who are postgraduate students undertaking full time research in the areas listed here.

AMA Queensland Foundation Medical Scholarship
Open to: Australian and New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent visa holders who have commenced the MBBS program at a Queensland university, have a GPA of 4.0 or above and can demonstrate evidence of financial hardship.

Australian Sugar Industry Scholarship
Open to: Penultimate year domestic students undertaking an undergraduate engineering (chemical, mechanical, process and electrical), science or technical degree at an Australian university or tertiary institution.
Value: $2,500 + Paid work placement at industry rates and living away allowance of $250 per week.

Savvy Fintech Scholarship
Open to: Any Australian or international undergraduate or master’s students studying commercial and financial fields studying either part-time or full time at university.

Rural Pharmacy Scholarship Scheme
Open to: Australian students enrolled, or about to be enrolled, as a full-time student in pharmacy undergraduate or graduate degree at an Australian university that leads to a registrable qualification as a pharmacist. Must be able to show they have lived in a defined rural area for a minimum of five consecutive years, or eight cumulative years from the age of five.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Pharmacy Scholarship Scheme
Open to: Australian citizens of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent who are enrolled, or about to be enrolled, as a full-time student in a pharmacy undergraduate or graduate degree at an Australian university that leads to a registrable qualification as a pharmacist. Preferably from a rural or remote location.
Value: $15,000 per year up to 4 years
