James Cook University Brisbane is proud to celebrate an outstanding academic milestone, with students from the LB5235 Applied Research Project class achieving their third peer reviewed journal publication in just four months; a remarkable accomplishment that reflects the strength of JCU Brisbane’s growing research culture.

Dr Sangeeta Rai, Professor at JCU Brisbane, shared her pride in the achievement:

“I am delighted to share that a third journal article, authored by students from the LB5235 class under my supervision and representing the JCU Brisbane banner, has been accepted for publication within the past four months. Three journal publications in four months is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to the commitment and scholarly excellence of our students.”

The latest paper, titled “Financial Circumstances and their Influence on Academic Experience: A Research on International Students in Australian Universities,” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Comparative & International Higher Education. The study explores how financial conditions shape the academic experiences of international students in Australia, contributing valuable insights to ongoing discussions in higher education research.

This achievement highlights not only the academic rigour of students, but also the strong mentorship and research‑led learning environment fostered at the Brisbane campus. Publishing in reputable international journals while still studying is a significant accomplishment, placing students at the forefront of academic inquiry and professional scholarship. “These publications demonstrate the momentum we are building within our learning community,” Dr Rai added. “They showcase what is possible when students are encouraged to think critically, conduct meaningful research, and engage with real‑world issues.”

Huge congratulations to the LB5235 Applied Research Project students on this exceptional success and looks forward to seeing their continued contributions to research and academic excellence.
