Current JCU Brisbane scholarships

JCU Brisbane 25% Scholarship

JCU Brisbane scholarships are offered to students enrolled in a full degree program and will be paid into a student’s Tuition Fee Account against their outstanding balance.

Students awarded a Scholarship may have their Scholarship entitlement reviewed in any one of the following circumstances:

  • Failure to make full payment for ALL enrolled subjects by the appointed Tuition Fee Payment date for each trimester. Tuition Fee Payment date is usually two weeks after the commencement of lectures
  • Failure to meet an overall course GPA of 4.0 and above by the due date of Scholarship payment
  • Withdrawal from your nominated course (as per the course listed on your Scholarship Letter)
  • Transfer from your nominated course (as per the course listed on your Scholarship Letter) to another program
  • Failure to be enrolled in a full time study load i.e. 3 subjects per trimester (Payment will only be made in a full time study load, subject to all terms and conditions)
  • Transfer to another JCU campus
  • If the student is not enrolled in a full degree program at JCU Brisbane
  • If the student is found guilty of Academic Misconduct in any subject e.g. cheating, plagiarism
  • If the student is:
    – Sponsored (other than JCU Brisbane sponsored)
    – On any other type of scholarship program or
    – On an exchange program

Appendix – Qualifying programs

  1. Bachelor of Business including all related majors (with or without credits)
  2. Bachelor of Information Technology
  3. Bachelor of Commerce
  4. Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events
  5. Master of Business Administration [2-Year]
  6. Master of Data Science (Professional)
  7. Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management
  8. Master of Professional Accounting
  9. Master of Information Technology including related majors
  10. All joint Master degrees as combinations of the above single degrees, including Master of Education / Master of Business Administration

Note: Students enrolled in single non award subjects or cross-institutional subjects are ineligible.

Full Scholarship payments are deposited into the Student’s Tuition Fee Account in accordance with the payment terms set out in the student’s scholarship letter.

NOTE: The JCU Brisbane Scholarships payment is subject to continued enrolment at JCU Brisbane. Where a student withdraws from their course and has a credit balance remaining on their student account which is a result of a scholarship payment being applied in the previous study period, the scholarship will be reversed and any credit balance will not be refunded to the student

JCU Brisbane 30% ASEAN 2024 Scholarship

JCU Brisbane scholarships are offered to students enrolled in a full degree program and will be paid into a student’s Tuition Fee Account against their outstanding balance.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

James Cook University Brisbane recognises exceptional academic effort by students by offering a scholarship-based Academic Excellence Award system which runs over a three trimester period. Students can first qualify for the Academic Excellence Award recognition after the completion of their second trimester of study. All awards are made in the trimester following the trimester in which the student qualifies.

Students maintaining an average GPA of 6.0 or above at the end of their second & third trimesters will qualify for a payment, which is made into the student’s account to offset tuition fees in the following trimester. Academic excellence is acknowledged at an official award ceremony held each trimester on the University campus.

Students maintaining an average GPA of 6.0 – 6.49 at the end of their fourth trimester receive a Silver JCUB Campus medal and an official Commendation document signed by the Campus Executive.

Students maintaining an average GPA of 6.5 or above at the end of their fourth trimester receive a Gold Campus Medal and an official Commendation document signed by the Campus Executive.

The Academic Excellence Award Scholarship is only available at the Brisbane campus.

JCU Brisbane reserves the right to limit the number of GPA-related Scholarships granted each trimester and to adjust or alter the Academic Excellence Award Scholarship Scheme at any time without notice.

Students will not receive an Academic Excellence Award Scholarship under any one or more of the following circumstances:

  • Fail to enrol in a full study load of three (3) subjects minimum in qualifying trimesters.
  • Fail to make full payment for ALL enrolled subjects by the advertised fee payment date for each trimester. Fee payment date is advised on the JCU Brisbane website.
  • A student is found guilty of Academic Misconduct in any subject (e.g. cheating, plagiarism) or program during the period of their enrolment at JCU Brisbane.
  • A student withdraws prior to the completion of their enrolled course
  • Students are enrolled in single non award subjects or cross-institutional subjects.

English Proficiency Scholarship - South Asia and ASEAN

The English Proficiency Scholarship of $3500 is available to International students from select regions who achieve English test scores as per below. Send an enquiry here.

  • IELTS Academic: Overall 7.0, with no band less than 6.0
  • PTE Academic: 65 with each module of 54
  • TOEFL iBT: 94 with a minimum of 21 in each module

Payments will be deposited into the student's Tuition Fee Account following the Census date of the third qualifying study period of the principal course.

Please note that all the below conditions apply.

  1. Failure to make full payment for ALL enrolled subjects by the appointed Tuition Fee Payment date for each trimester. The tuition Fee Payment date is usually two weeks after the commencement of lectures
  2. Failure to meet an overall course GPA of 4.0 and above by the due date of Grant payment
  3. Withdrawal from your nominated course
  4. Transfer from your nominated course to another program
  5. Failure to be enrolled in a full-time study load i.e. 3 subjects per trimester (payment will only be made in a full-time study load, subject to all terms and conditions)
  6. Non-transferable to another JCU campus
  7. Must be onshore, studying face-to-face in Brisbane
  8. Not eligible if the student is not enrolled in a full degree program at JCU Brisbane
  9. Not eligible if the student is found guilty of Academic Misconduct in any subject e.g., cheating, or plagiarism.
  10. If the student is:
    – Fully sponsored
    – On any other type of Grant program or
    – On an exchange program

NOTE: JCU Brisbane scholarship payment is subject to continued enrolment at JCU Brisbane. Where a student withdraws from their course and has a credit balance remaining on their student account resulting from a scholarship payment being applied in the previous study period, the scholarship will be reversed, and any credit balance will not be refunded to the student.

High Achiever Scholarship

The High Achiever Scholarship of $3500 is available to International students achieving a high academic score as determined by the University. It is available for students from select regions that do not need to submit an English test score to meet the entry criteria.

Payments will be deposited into the student's Tuition Fee Account following the Census date of the third qualifying study period of the principal course.

Please note that all the below conditions apply.

  1. Failure to make full payment for ALL enrolled subjects by the appointed Tuition Fee Payment date for each trimester. The tuition Fee Payment date is usually two weeks after the commencement of lectures
  2. Failure to meet an overall course GPA of 4.0 and above by the due date of Grant payment
  3. Withdrawal from your nominated course
  4. Transfer from your nominated course to another program
