Self-enrolment
The steps to enrol in your subjects are the same for each study period.
Online enrolment opens in Week 8 and closes the day before lectures commence. It is important to enrol as early as possible to secure your place in the class. You are expected to attend classes from Week 1 and attendance will be monitored throughout the duration of your studies. Be mindful of tuition fee payment dates.
You can find step-by-step instructions on how to enrol in your subjects below:
Use your study plan in MyStudent as a guide when choosing your subjects – it gives you a blueprint of what subjects you need to do in order to complete your degree. Most degrees will have a combination of both core and elective subjects. If your degree allows you to choose an elective subject, you can browse all JCU subjects on Subject Search. Students will receive a personalised email with recommended subject enrolment advice during the self-enrolment period before the start of each trimester.
View your Subject Timetable for the relevant Study Period, checking to see there are no clashes of class times.
- Log-in to MyStudent.
- In the My Study tile on the dashboard, you’ll see the course(s) you are admitted to.
- Select the course you want to enrol in to open the Manage My Course window. Manage My Course provides an overview of your course structure. Here, you can make choices here to develop your study plan before enrolling.
- In Manage My Course subjects will show as:
- Not enrolled – already scheduled into a study period but not enrolled (blue exclamation icon) keep the wording the same / include the actual
- Unscheduled – not yet scheduled into a study period and not enrolled (blue exclamation icon)
- Enrolled – showing the enrolled study period (green tick)
- Passed – subject completed (black tick)
- Selection Required – you have subject options to choose (orange exclamation)
For some undergraduate students, commencing in 2026, your subjects may already be scheduled into study periods for you.
- Go to Plan and enrol to enrol in your planned subjects. You can also plan your studies in this area as well, by either selecting a subject and allocating the appropriate availability and adding to plan or by dragging the subject into the relevant study period (Trimester/Semester/Block).
- Select the Plan a study period button at the top of the window to schedule your unscheduled subjects into the study period(s) you want to enrol in.
- select the study period and then Next
- choose your subjects and then Finish
- Your chosen subjects appear in the Plan and enrol window, scheduled into the selected study period as Not enrolled.
- To enrol in all scheduled subjects for that study period, select the Enrol button at the top of the study period column.
- To check your enrolment, go back to Manage My Course, or request an Enrolment Advice from the My Study > Self Service Reports window. A list of your enrolled subjects will be emailed to you.
Note: if the Enrol button does not appear, enrolments may not yet be open for that study period, or you may have a sanction. Go to My Details for sanction information.
