Pre-requisites

Completion of an appropriate undergraduate degree, equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree, with Honours I or II, from this or another university; or

Other qualifications or practical experience recognised by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts as equivalent to the above; or

Completion of the Postgraduate Diploma of Economics from this university.

Candidates with limited prior economics may be required to vary the normal course structure and take EC5103:03 Business Economics (or equivalent). Similarly, candidates who have limited quantitative skills may be required to take EC5203:03 Statistics for Business (or equivalent).

Supplementary exam for final subject

A candidate who has failed the final subject towards the degree and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility

Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures.

Maximum allowed

12 credit points, unless part of approved articulation process

Currency

Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 10 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 10 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course of study prescribed for the degree.

Other restrictions

Candidates who are granted advanced standing for the Postgraduate Diploma of Economics will be required to surrender that award prior to graduating with the Master of Economics.
