Entry requirements for this course are consistent with the Pathways to Qualifications in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Guidelines for Masters degrees.

A person may be admitted to the Masters of Pharmaceutical Public Health if they have:

1. qualified for a Bachelor’s degree of this University in a relevant discipline as determined by the Head of School of Pharmacy and Molecular Science; or

2. qualifications recognised by the Head of the School of Pharmacy and Molecular Sciences and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences as equivalent to Requirement 1; or

3. submitted as an exceptional case such evidence of professional or scientific attainments in an appropriate pharmaceutical, health or science area as meets with the approval of the Faculty on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Pharmacy and Molecular Sciences and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences.

Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements

Students of non English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System.  An IELTS score of 7 with no component lower than 7 is required (Band 3 at JCU).

Not applicable – Completion of a Masters of Pharmaceutical Public Health will not allow the graduate to register in Australia as a Pharmacist.

Supplementary exam for final subject

A candidate who has failed the final subject towards the award and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject, may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject. However if that subject is required for accreditation, then the criteria specified by that accreditation will apply.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility

Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the current JCU policy for Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning.

Maximum allowed

The maximum amount of Advance Standing granted, whether for previous studies or recognised prior learning, shall not exceed 18 credit points.

Students with entry qualifications equivalent to 4 years or more of undergraduate or postgraduate study, plus a minimum of health related professional experience considered suitable by the Head of the School of Pharmacy and Molecular Sciences may be granted Advanced Standing in recognition of prior learning up to a maximum of 12 credit points of study.

A student who has passed a postgraduate subject at this or another University which is deemed by the faculty on the advice of the Head of School of Pharmacy and Molecular Sciences to be equivalent to the subjects offered in the course may be granted academic credit for those subjects up to a maximum of 6 credit points, provided those subjects have not been credited towards any other award either at this or any other University.

Currency

Advanced Standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 10 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Advanced Standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 20 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed this course.
