Additional course rules

Study plans must include:

at least 3 credit points at level 1 from any four of the following subject prefixes: AN, AR, CI, CU, CY, EL, FR, GR, HI, IT, JA, JN, PL, PY, SS, SY or WS; and

at least 3 credit points of Indigenous Australian Studies either SS1010 or a subject prefixed IA.

A minimum of 42 credit points must be taken at levels 2 and 3, of which, at least 18 credit points must be at level 3.

A maximum of 15 credit points may be taken from subjects outside of the Faculty of Arts, Education and Social Sciences, except for subjects specified under a major.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility

Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures.

Maximum allowed

48 credit points

Currency

Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 10 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 20 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed this course.

Other restrictions

A maximum of 9 credit points of advanced standing may be granted at level 3.

Award Details

Inclusion of majors on testamur

Any major studied may appear on the testamur.

Exit with lesser award

Candidates who exit the course prior to completion, and have completed 48 credit points of study and appropriate subjects, may be eligible to receive the award of Advanced Diploma of Arts, while those who have completed 24 credit points of study and appropriate subjects, may be eligible to receive the award of Diploma of Arts.
