Entry requirements for this course are consistent with the Pathways to Qualifications in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Guidelines for Bachelor degrees.

Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements

Students of non English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System.  An IELTS score of 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5 is required (Band 1 at JCU).  Students scoring below this may be offered up to six months intensive language training prior to admission to the course.

Supplementary exam for final subject

A candidate who has failed the final subject towards the degree and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject, may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject .However if that subject is required for accreditation, then the criteria specified by that accreditation should apply.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility

Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures.

Currency

Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 5 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 13 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course.

Other restrictions

A maximum of 9 credit points of advanced standing may be granted at level 3.

Exit with lesser award

Candidates who exit the course prior to completion, and have completed 24 credit points of appropriate subjects, may be eligible to receive the award of Diploma of Creative Arts.

Completion of a pass degree in the Creative Arts with a GPA of 5.0 or higher: or

Other qualifications recognised  by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts as equivalent to the above.

Submit proposal to Honours coordinator by November 30 of the year preceding the study.
