Course pre-requisites

Bachelor of Visual Arts, or equivalent degree, from this or another university.

Entry requirements for this course are consistent with the Pathways to Qualifications in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Guidelines for Bachelor degrees.

Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements

Students of non English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System.  An IELTS score of 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5 is required (Band 1 at JCU).  Students scoring below this may be offered up to six months intensive language training prior to admission to the course.

Additional selection requirements

A minimum grade of Distinction in level 3 visual arts practice and art history subjects and a grade of Credit in a level 3 drawing subject is required for candidates wishing to pursue the research major.

A minimum grade of Distinction in a level 3 visual arts practice subject and a grade of Credit in level 3 drawing and art history subjects is required for candidates wishing to pursue the professional practice major.
