Course pre-requisites | Entry requirements for this course are consistent with the Pathways to Qualifications in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF level 9) Guidelines for Master degrees. Must be registered as a nurse in Australia and:

Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements | Students of non English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The IELTS score required for admission to this course can be found in Schedule I of the JCU Admissions policy. |
Additional selection requirements | Applicants must have completed a minimum of five years full-time equivalent (FTE) of clinical experience as a registered nurse of which at least three years FTE is in a relevant specialty area; and

Post admission requirements | Hepatitis B immunization: Students must provide evidence of being immune to Hepatitis B. A blood-borne viral disease may result in a student’s inability to obtain a placement in a Queensland Health facility and consequently may result in their inability to complete the requirements of the course as accredited by the relevant professional accrediting body. Eligibility | Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures. |
Maximum allowed | 18 credit points (consisting of maximum 12 credit points for previous studies; maximum of 6 credit points for >10yrs RN clinical experience). |
Currency | Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 5 years prior to the commencement of this course. |
