Admission Requirements

Course pre-requisites	Completion of an appropriate undergraduate degree, equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree, or graduate diploma from this or another university; or Other qualifications or practical experience recognised by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts as equivalent to the above. Completion of the Graduate Diploma of Conflict Management and Resolution from this university.
Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements	Students of non-English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The IELTS score required for admission to this course can be found in Schedule I of the JCU Admissions policy.
Additional selection requirements	Applicants must have a minimum of at least five years academic and professional experience in a cognate discipline.

Supplementary exam for final subject	A candidate who has failed a single subject towards the award in their final teaching period and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject. However if that subject is required for accreditation, then the criteria specified by that accreditation will apply.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility	Candidates may apply for exemption for previous tertiary study where appropriate in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures.
Maximum allowed	18 credit points for dispute resolution subjects completed at JCU; otherwise 12 credit points, unless part of an approved articulation process.
Currency	Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 4 years prior to the commencement of this course.
Expiry	Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 10 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course.
Other restrictions	Candidates who are granted advanced standing for either the Graduate Certificate or the Graduate Diploma of Conflict and Dispute Resolution, will be required to surrender that award prior to taking out the Master of Conflict and Dispute Resolution. Advanced standing will not be granted for work experience or undergraduate studies.
