Admission Requirements

Course pre-requisites

Completion of a bachelor degree in a relevant discipline, from this or another university; or

Completion, to a suitable standard, of either the Postgraduate Diploma of Health Promotion, Postgraduate Diploma of Public Health and Tropical Medicine or the Postgraduate Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from this university; or

Other qualifications recognised by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences as equivalent to the above; or

Submission as an exceptional case, other evidence of professional and academic attainments, including employment for a minimum of five years in health related activities.

Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements

Students of non-English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The IELTS score required for admission to this course can be found in Schedule I of the JCU Admissions policy.

Advanced Standing

Eligibility

Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures.

Maximum allowed

18 credit points

Currency

Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 10 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 18 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed this course.

Other restrictions

A maximum of 6 credit points of advanced standing may be granted for previous studies, provided those subjects have not been credited towards any other award, either at this or any other University.

A maximum of 12 credit points of advanced standing may be granted for recognition of prior learning.
