Award Requirements

Course pre -requisites	Completion of an appropriate undergraduate degree that does not comprise of an economics major or a Bachelor of Economics and is equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree, from this or another university; or Other qualifications or practical experience recognised by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts as equivalent to the above.
Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements	Students of non-English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The IELTS score required for admission to this course can be found in Schedule I of the JCU Admissions policy.

Additional course rules	Candidates with limited prior economics may be required to vary the normal course structure and take CO5125:03 Economics for Managers (or equivalent). Similarly, candidates who have limited quantitative skills may be required to take CO5124:03 Data Analysis and Decision Modelling (or equivalent).

Supplementary exam for final subject	A candidate who has failed a single subject towards the award in their final teaching period and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject. However if that subject is required for accreditation, then the criteria specified by that accreditation will apply.

Eligibility	Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures.
Maximum allowed	12 credit points
Currency	Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 4 years prior to the commencement of this course.
Expiry	Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 8 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course of study prescribed for the degree.
Other restrictions	Advanced standing will not be granted for work experience or undergraduate studies.

Course articulation	Candidates who complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Economics are eligible for entry to the Master of Economics (Coursework), and may be granted advanced standing for all subjects completed under the Postgraduate Diploma.
