Award Requirements

Course pre-requisites	Candidates must have successfully completed the first three years of the MBBS program with grades in the top 25% of their cohort over the three preceding years.
Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements	Students of non-English speaking backgrounds must have an adequate English language capacity assessed under the Australian International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The IELTS score required for admission to this course can be found in Schedule II of the JCU Admissions policy.
Additional selection requirements	By invitation of the Head of School.
Special admission requirements	A quota on entry into the Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) program may be applied depending on the availability of supervisors and other resources.

Credit points	24 credit points as per course structure.
Additional course rules	Candidates must attend components of coursework usually completed by honours students within the discipline.
Additional completion requirements	Candidates must attend research seminars of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and the discipline in which the research is conducted.
Course learning outcomes	Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours, graduates will be able to: Apply coherent and advanced knowledge of the underlying principles and concepts in medical science Demonstrate knowledge and skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research approaches through critical analysis, evaluation and application of the relevant approach Design and successfully conduct well designed research projects that are ethically and culturally safe and empowering in partnership with relevant collaborators Critically evaluate own capabilities as developing researchers to enable structured further learning Communicate a clear and coherent exposition of knowledge and ideas to a variety of audiences.
