Honours program requirements: Entry to the Honours program is by invitation of the Head of School of Law. Current enrolment in Level 4 of the James Cook University Bachelor of Laws pass degree, with an overall grade point average of 5.0 (i.e. credit average) in this degree. |

To be eligible for accreditation with Certified Practising Accountants (CPA Australia) and/or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) students must complete the Accounting major as well as the following subjects: BX2014:03 Financial Management BX2016:03 Business Modelling BX2019:03 Business Information Systems 2. In accordance with the requirements of the Supreme Court (Admission) Rules 2004 (Qld), students who intend, at any time, to seek admission as a Legal Practitioner in Queensland must include as subjects within their degree: LA4022:03 Civil Procedure LA4038:03 Legal Ethics and Trust Accounting 3. Students seeking admission to practise law are strongly advised to include the following level 4 subjects: LA4007:03 Succession LA4019:03 Conveyancing and Drafting LA4032:03 Family Law 4. Townsville students seeking admission to practise law are also encouraged to include LA4014:03 Clinical Legal Studies or LA4041:03 Legal Placement. |

A candidate who has failed the final law subject towards the award or towards admission as a barrister or solicitor and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject, may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject unless accreditation requirements for that subject specify different criteria which are to apply. However if that subject is required for accreditation, then the criteria specified by that accreditation will apply. |

Eligibility |
Candidates may apply for advanced standing for previous tertiary study in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy associated procedures. |

80 credit points in accordance with the Advanced Standing for Previous Studies and Recognised Prior Learning policy. |
Currency |
Advanced standing will be granted only for studies completed in the 10 years prior to the commencement of this course. |
Expiry |
Advanced standing gained for any subject shall be cancelled 21 years after the date of the examination upon which the advanced standing is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed the course of study prescribed for the degree. |

Normally an overall GPA of 5 is required in the pass degree subjects relevant to the field in which Law Honours is to be taken . |
