About the Event

Each year, James Cook University recognises the exceptional achievements of our graduates through the JCU Outstanding Alumni Awards.

On Friday 28 August, seven of our most accomplished alumni will return to campus from across Australia to attend the 2026 Outstanding Alumni Awards ceremony. Before the evening celebrations, we invite current students, staff and alumni to join us for SPARK – Students and Professionals Aligning, Relating, and Knowledge-sharing.

This special event offers a rare opportunity to meet and hear from outstanding graduates whose careers have made a significant impact in fields including Medicine, Social Work, Marine and Terrestrial Ecology, Veterinary Science, Environmental Studies, Business, and Health.

The event will commence with a complimentary light lunch from 11:30am to 12:00 noon, providing an opportunity to connect with fellow attendees before the panel discussion begins.

From 12:00 noon to 1:00pm, our alumni guests will share their personal and professional journeys—from their time at JCU through to the experiences, opportunities, and challenges that have shaped their careers. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, gain practical insights, and learn from professionals who have achieved success across diverse industries and sectors.

Whether you are exploring career possibilities, seeking inspiration for your next professional step, or simply interested in hearing remarkable stories from members of the JCU community, SPARK is an opportunity not to be missed.

We hope this event sparks new ideas, meaningful connections, and fresh perspectives on where your own journey might lead.
