The late Emeritus Professor Rick Speare has been awarded the Kesteven Medal by the Australian Veterinary Association.
In recognition of his work in international veterinary science, the late Emeritus Professor Rick Speare AM has been posthumously awarded the Kesteven Medal by the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA).
Professor Speare made important contributions towards the health of animals throughout the Tropics, most notably in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and the wider Pacific, as well as in South East Asia and South Africa. His legacy also includes the strengthening of local research capacities of the countries in which he worked.
The Kesteven Medal recognises "distinguished contributions to international veterinary science in the fields of technical and scientific assistance to developing countries."
Emeritus Professor Rick Speare AM tragically passed away on 5 June 2016.
