James Cook University in Cairns welcomed more than 4,000 people to its annual Open Day today as locals, along with visitors from interstate and overseas, explored the campus and considered their study and career plans.

Campus Director David Craig said tours of the dentistry simulation laboratory, on-campus accommodation and health sciences were popular attractions.

“We were also joined by tourism and hospitality professionals who helped us spread the word about our new degree, the Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events,” Mr Craig said.

“Together with our new Master of International Tourism and Hospitality Management, this means you can now study tourism at any level here in Cairns.”

Visitors to the campus were able to see work underway on the Cairns Innovation Centre, a $30M project due for completion in second semester 2020.

“Thanks to everyone who visited, and all the staff and students who gave their time and expertise, 2019’s Open Day was a great success,” Mr Craig said.
