Discover your future at JCU’s Mount Isa Open Day

James Cook University is inviting future students and the local community to discover its facilities, course offerings at their Mount Isa Open Day on Thursday, July 16.

Running from 3.30pm-6pm at JCU’s Murtupuni campus in Mount Isa, visitors can get hands-on with a range of interactive activities while exploring study options and learning more about life at JCU.

JCU Mount Isa is home to the Centre for Rural and Remote Health, with the campus offering a Bachelor of Nursing Science on-site, with additional placement opportunities for students across medicine, dentistry, and allied health.

Future students and their families can enjoy a complimentary BBQ while they explore and hear directly from current students about their experiences.

Visitors will also have the chance to chat with the Future Students team about how to

apply and get started, check in with the Pathways team to explore study options and speak directly with JCU academics and current students about courses and career pathways.

JCU Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Biggs said the University is delighted to give the Northwest Queensland community a unique look at northern Australia’s premier tertiary education institution.

“Open Day gives future students and their families the opportunity to experience life at JCU’s Mount Isa campus and learn how we can help shape careers that make a real difference in regional, rural and remote communities,” he said.

“Community members can explore our range of study pathways, learn more about the work of the Centre for Rural and Remote Health, and discover the opportunities available to live, learn and work in Northwest Queensland.

“JCU remains committed to improving access to education and healthcare in regional and remote Australia while inspiring the next generation of health professionals and community leaders to build their futures close to home.”

If you are not interested in studying nursing, you can also explore all of JCU’s other courses offered at the University's campuses, including in Townsville and Cairns, or learn more about fully online study.

JCU will also hold Open Days in Emerald on Tuesday, July 21 and at the Cairns Nguma-bada campus (Smithfield) on Friday, July 24.
