JCU jumps in global uni rankings
James Cook University has improved its position in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Ranking.
In the 2027 rankings, released today, JCU has risen to the 326-350 band, which is up from the 351-400 band in the 2026 rankings.
The Times Higher Education World University Ranking noted JCU had improved in areas including research quality, industry links and international collaboration.
Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Jenny Seddon said JCU’s rise in the global rankings reflected the dedicated work of the University’s staff, researchers and students.
“JCU delivers world-class research that changes lives and improves communities, with a focus on issues affecting the Tropics,” Professor Seddon said.
“The University also plays a critical role in educating the next generation of skilled workers our region needs – from accountants through to vets.
“We’re very pleased the University’s efforts have been recognised by the Times Higher Education World University Ranking and we’re committed to building on this result in future years.”
