Course detail
Forget textbook software engineering. You'll design, develop, test and ship software the way engineering teams actually do it, using agile practices, tackling scaling problems, and learning to create and manage complex software systems that don't collapse under pressure.
The projects you'll work on come straight from the kinds of real-world challenges software engineers face, not hypothetical exercises.
The curriculum is aligned with standards set by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), through JCU's ACS-accredited Master of Information Technology program. This certificate is a complete qualification on its own, with the option to continue into that Master's if you choose.
This certificate strengthens what you already bring to a technical role, or opens the door into dedicated software engineering work. Day to day, that could mean designing software, testing and improving its quality, or working within an agile team on larger projects.
As you gain experience, those responsibilities tend to grow into more senior engineering or technical leadership roles.
Software engineer positions are the most direct destination, though the same skills apply to roles like solution architect, agile team lead, or specialist positions within larger engineering teams.
