Clinical educators invest considerable time and expertise in supporting learners, but it can be difficult to know whether their teaching is having the intended impact. How can you identify what is working, evaluate the effectiveness of your teaching, and decide what to improve?
Clinicians already use evidence and continuous quality improvement to evaluate patient care. This practical webinar will show how the same approach can be applied to clinical teaching. Everyday observations, learner responses and feedback can provide meaningful evidence of teaching effectiveness.
Participants will learn how to turn a question arising from their own teaching into a focused and achievable evaluation. They will explore practical ways to gather information within busy clinical settings, use the findings to refine their teaching and build evidence of teaching excellence and impact.
The session will provide techniques and ideas that participants can apply immediately to their educational practice. It will also show how postgraduate study in Health Professional Education at JCU can help clinical educators develop their practice, demonstrate its impact and take their educational work further.
