Public Health and Tropical Medicine
JCU Public Health and Tropical Medicine programs equip students with the knowledge and practical skills to address complex health challenges, particularly in tropical, rural, remote, Indigenous, and resource-limited settings.
With a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, ethical decision-making, and community impact, our graduates are recognised for their leadership and innovation across both Australian and global contexts.
Whether working to prevent infectious diseases, manage non-communicable conditions, or strengthen health systems, JCU students are prepared to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the communities they serve.

Lifefstyle Medicine
Half of Australians live with a chronic physical or mental health condition. This is driving strong demand for lifestyle medicine and whole-person, whole-community care. The need spans primary care, hospitals, community programs, industry, not-for-profits, and government.
Lifestyle medicine is built on evidence-based practices. These include nutrition, fasting, movement, sleep, meditation, relaxation, breathwork, and reducing harmful substances. It also focuses on social connection, social prescribing, and connecting with nature. Behaviour change skills like health coaching, research, technology use, and care model innovation are key parts of the approach.
As the only university to offer postgraduate degrees in lifestyle medicine under a school of medicine, JCU is leading the way.
