Begin your university journey with this supportive, foundational course that equips you to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Successful completion of this one-year Diploma means you will be eligible to continue your studies with a Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events.
Build skills in professional and academic communication, digital literacy and leadership as you explore key industry issues such as sustainability, resilience and change management. You'll consider foundational research and strategies within this diverse and exciting field. Develop an understanding of human behaviour and decision-making, as you learn to identify and draw upon factors that influence consumer choice.
Prepare for further learning with tailored support from lecturers committed to your success as you develop study strategies that work for you. Work collaboratively with your peers, as well as on individual projects. The experience in communication, data analysis and problem-solving will prepare you for the workplace, and are highly relevant to your future career as you build a foundation of employable skills, knowledge and an understanding of the tourism, hospitality and events industries.
Successful graduates of the Diploma of Tourism, Hospitality and Events can transition into a Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events, and may meet the entry requirements for other JCU degrees. Some subjects may be eligible to count as credit for this purpose.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events are multi-skilled, dynamic professionals who are in high demand across several industries. JCU graduates pursue careers in tourism, hospitality, events, and business.
Upon completion of a Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events, you may explore roles as a hospitality manager, events manager, hotel supervisor, travel agent, spa manager, event and conference organiser, tourism operator, tour guide or business owner.

Courses are charged per year of full-time study. International course fees are reviewed annually and subject to change.
A Student Services and Amenities Fee is payable per subject up to a maximum amount per year.
Student Visa holders must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their Student Visa (except Norwegian, Swedish and Belgian citizens). Costs depend on the length of study and the number of dependants accompanying the student. For more information see Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
Scholarships and financial aid are also available for international students.
