What will you achieve?

If you meet the entry score (ATAR or OP) for your preferred bachelor degree but are missing one or two pre-requisite subjects – this is the course for you. Study those pre-requisite subjects in short intensive block modes, and complete in time to start your Bachelor degree.

The Certificate of Higher Education is suitable for students who have the core literacy, numeracy and technology capabilities for university study.

Is the Certificate of Higher Education right for me?

If you have recently finished Year 12, or have a previous undergraduate qualification, this course may be suited for you.

The Certificate of Higher Education is online-only and designed for students who are used to self-directed study.

Please note: Some courses such as the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery have limited places and completing pre-requisite subjects as part of the Certificate of Higher Education does not guarantee a place.

  • Minimum English language proficiency requirements apply.
  • Self-directed study skills including online study experience recommended.
  • Students need to be 18 or be currently completing Year 12 to apply.

Why the Certificate of Higher Education?

Missing one or two high school subjects shouldn't mean you miss out of your desired career. The Certificate of Higher Education gives you a low-cost option to get your pre-requisites sorted in time to start uni. On successful completion you will be one step closer to meeting the entry requirements for your chosen course.

Plus online study means you can schedule your study to fit your lifestyle. If you only need one subject you could finish in only a few weeks.

Cost: $48.90 per subject in 2023.

Designed for students who do not have a C Achievement or better in Queensland Year 12 Mathematical Methods (3/4) or equivalent, and who require Mathematical Methods as a pre-requisite for any course at JCU.

Designed for students who do not have a C Achievement or better in Queensland Year 12 Chemistry (3/4) or their equivalents, and who require this as a pre-requisite for any course at JCU.

Designed for students who do not have a C Achievement or better in a Queensland Year 12 General Science subject (or equivalent), and who require an authority Science subject as a pre-requisite for the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) or Bachelor of Education (Primary).
