James Cook University Brisbane Information Technology students will benefit from the Australian government’s decision to extend post-study work rights for international students.

Graduates from specific technical courses, including cyber security, database administration and multimedia will be able to stay in Australia and work for an extended period of time.

From 1 July 2023, eligible Bachelor degree graduates will have the right to live and work in Australia for 4 years after graduating, and Masters graduates will have up to 5 years. Minister for Home Affairs Clare O’Neil stated that the government’s decision represents a “practical change that will increase the availability of a well-trained and highly capable workforce to help ease current pressures”. It will give JCUB graduates a fantastic opportunity to kick-start their IT career in Australia.

International students can study a Bachelor or Master of Information Technology, and we also offer a combined Master of Information Technology / Master of Business Administration. All courses are offered at our Brisbane campus commencing February, May or September.
