Welcome to James Cook University Ms Flora Mulatya!

Ms Flora Mulatya, Education Attaché from the Kenya High Commission, visited James Cook University Brisbane last week meeting Marketing Manager, Tom Collin, regarding student recruitment in the region. While on campus, Flora attended a workshop on Education for Sustainability delivered by our Organisational Development Lecturer, Rob Godby. The workshop emphasized the crucial role of education in achieving a more sustainable society, which is essential for our future.

Ms Mulatya was a former chief principal of Kenya High School before her promotion from Teachers Service Commission to the Public Service Commission, where she is now serving as Kenya’s educational representative in Australia. “The time has come for me to serve my country in a different capacity, and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity,” Ms Mulatya expressed.

During her visit to JCU Brisbane, Flora had the opportunity to meet with many members of our Kenyan cohort and hear firsthand why they love studying at JCU Brisbane campus. The visit served to strengthen partnerships and solidify unity between the university and future JCU Kenyan students.

At JCUB, we pride ourselves on providing the best possible experience to our students. Kenyan student Dennis Barsire studied a Bachelor of Business at JCUB, and had this to say about his time with us:

"Studying a Bachelor of Business at JCU Brisbane has been incredible. I major in Intelligence and Information Systems which has taught me how to combine technology systems and data into business strategies. My learning experience has been amazing, I get the support I need to succeed in my studies and Brisbane is such an easy city to settle into. I have no doubt after graduation I will have the skills I need to succeed in business."
