North Queenslanders are invited to help experience and celebrate James Cook University’s achievements in research during a special program of events beginning at the end of the month.

“Celebrating Research” 2012 will include workshops and demonstrations on both Townsville and Cairns campuses to showcase what research at JCU has achieved and the potential for future discoveries.

Professor Chris Cocklin, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at JCU, said the events were designed to share JCU’s experiences and recognise the University’s achievements.

“The JCU community is committed to its role as a research-intensive university,” he said.

“Celebrating Research was introduced in 2009 with a view to improving the profile of research, of recognising excellence and helping to build institutional capacity.

“Each year the program is designed to shine the spotlight on research and research training as a way of emphasising the importance of these activities to the institution’s mission; to acknowledge and reward excellence in research and research training and to build capacity.”

Events are free and all are welcome.
