James Cook University’s Townsville campus will throw open its doors to the public this weekend, at its annual Open Day, and everyone is invited.
The day, which will be held on Saturday, August 31 this year, is an opportunity for members of the community to investigate course options, find out what it is like to study and live on campus as well as seek advice from the experts and academics about career paths.
JCU’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Sandra Harding said Open Day was a great opportunity to find out more about the Townsville campus.
“Whether you are interested in starting university, changing or furthering your career or you are simply curious about what is happening 'out at the uni', Open Day is a great day out for you and your family,” Professor Harding said.
Highlights of the day, this year being held on Saturday August 31, will include:
Hear from the experts
JCU academics are at the forefront of research and development activities around the world. JCU students have the chance to learn from expert academics who are leaders in their fields. Because JCU’s academics are at the cutting edge, many JCU lectures are based on information that hasn't even made it into textbooks yet!
Have questions answered
A range of JCU staff and academics will be available to speak with prospective students about career aspirations and the opportunities available in their chosen area of study. Attendees can take advantage of the stimulating presentations by JCU academic staff – with information, lectures and activities, including the forensic trail and hands on activities for kids and adults alike – there will be something to interest everyone.
Find a dream career
