Jeff Kennett to present business lecture at JCU
First published September 5, 2013
One of Australia's most recognisable former political leaders will present the next BEST lecture at James Cook University in Townsville next month.
Former Premier of Victoria and Founding Chairman of beyondblue, a national depression initiative, Jeff Kennett AC will make the presentation as part of the Business Excellence Series in the Tropics (BEST), hosted by JCU’s School of Business.
The BEST series involves presentations by prominent community, industry and government leaders who share their knowledge and experience on a range of topical themes, issues, challenges and trends.
Mr Kennett, Victorian Premier from 1992 to 1999, and arguably one of its strongest, will speak on the topic ‘Low standards are no standards in corporate or political life’ on Thursday, October 10.
Professor David Low, Head of the JCU School of Business said he was particularly interested to talk to Mr Kennett about his career post-politics, his thoughts on mental health and the community as well as his very outspoken stance on drugs in sport.
“Given this is only a few weeks after the federal election it will also be interesting to canvass his opinion on the political winners and losers of the federal election,” he said.
Professor Low will conduct a post-presentation interview and will take questions from the audience.
