Think & act globally, but plan locally

How do we contribute to a coordinated global effort, in an age when multi-lateral agreements are bogged down with politics and self-interest?

Dr Mark Stafford Smith, a principal research scientist with CSIRO in Canberra, will address that question in a public lecture on Wednesday night (July 9^th)) at James Cook University in Cairns.

In the annual Courtenay lecture, titled Think globally, act globally, but plan locally, Dr Stafford Smith will consider speedier and more nimble ways to respond issues such as climate change.

Dr Mark Stafford Smith is a principal research scientist with CSIRO in Canberra, with oversight of a highly interdisciplinary program of research on many aspects of adapting to climate change.

The Courtenay lecture is named in recognition of the contribution to Cairns of Professor Philip Courtenay, former Rector of James Cook University’s Cairns campus.

The lecture will run from 6.00pm to 7.00pm at the Cairns Institute on the JCU campus in Smithfield.

Admission is free and all are welcome.
