The Australian Government’s Trade and Investment Policy Advisory Council (TIPAC), chaired by Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Robb, will meet at James Cook University in Cairns tomorrow (Wednesday 8 April).

In addition to discussions of current trade and investment priorities, TIPAC members will meet researchers from JCU’S Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine and will visit the Australian Tropical Herbarium on campus.

They will also have informal discussions with JCU postgraduate research students.

Professor Sandra Harding, JCU Vice Chancellor and a member of TIPAC, will give a brief presentation on Northern Australia and the tropics, highlighting critical issues in health, education and economic development.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Minister Robb and TIPAC members to JCU, and in particular to our Cairns campus, “ Professor Harding said.

“I’m privileged to sit on the Advisory Council alongside some of the country’s leading business people, and I look forward to focussing their attention on the opportunities our region has to offer.”
