Last week James Cook University Brisbane campus welcomed new students for the second trimester of 2023.

Stepping foot onto a university campus for the first time can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. With countless new faces, unfamiliar surroundings, and a barrage of information, it's no wonder that universities around the world organise orientation days or O-Week (Orientation Week) to ease the transition and make students feel at home.

JCUB O Week kicked off with some fantastic activities including an Amazing Race style challenge around Brisbane to discover key landmarks and a delicious lunch at Navala Restaurant. Here the students enjoyed beautiful views of the Brisbane River and had the chance to mingle with fellow students, lecturers and the marketing team.

New students participated in informative sessions, including:

  • Presentations by Senior Academic staff
  • Essential Academic Skills workshop
  • Joblinx ‘How can I get a job?’ workshop
  • Meeting our Wellbeing, Resource Centre, Marketing and Student Services teams

These events are crucial for fostering a sense of community, introducing important resources, and helping students navigate the exciting journey ahead.

James Cook University Brisbane has three intakes per year (February, May and September) with a variety of Undergraduate and Post graduate courses on offer:
