JCU’s Master of Health Professional Education (HPE) equip graduates with specialist educator skills that are applicable to a wide range of clinical and healthcare settings. Graduates have the advantage of a qualification in education in addition to their clinical discipline.
HPE is applicable to a range of healthcare settings. Graduates pursue careers in private and public hospitals; tertiary, rural and remote health services; and in community settings and clinics.
Graduates find work as educators in medicine, nursing, dentistry and all allied health professions. You could find employment as a lead clinical educator, supervisor or preceptor for health students in your discipline.

Admission Requirements
Course pre-requisites | Registration as a nurse, doctor of medicine or other health professional in Australia; or completion of an appropriate AQF level 7 bachelor degree in a relevant discipline with 2 years relevant experience or equivalent. |
Minimum English language proficiency requirements | Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 3a – Schedule II of the JCU Admissions Policy. |
Additional selection requirements | Information published by JCU or otherwise made available to students when applying, may specify additional criteria to be considered in ranking applicants in order of merit if the number of applications exceeds a quota or other limit on the places made available for the course. Information provided by applicants during the application process and any other information obtained by JCU in the application process may be used by JCU to rank applicants in order of merit by reference to those additional criteria. |

Eligibility | Students may apply for a credit transfer for previous tertiary study or informal and non-formal learning in accordance with the Credit Transfer Procedure |
Maximum allowed | 18 credit points except where a student transfers from one JCU award to another, then credit may be granted for more than two-thirds of the new award, where there is subject equivalence between the awards (e.g. 24 credit points for Graduate Diploma of Health Professional Education). |
Currency | Credit will be granted only for subjects completed in the last 6 years prior to the commencement of this course. |
Expiry | Credit gained for any subject shall be cancelled 14 years after the date of the examination upon which the credit is based if, by then, the student has not completed this course. |
Other restrictions | Studies and/or professional experiences undertaken to fulfil the entry requirements to JCU awards may not be used for credit. |
