The region
Far North Queensland offers a relaxed tropical lifestyle with diverse landscapes from beautiful beaches, to lush rainforests, mountains, green dairy country and open savannah woodland.
Covering more than 20,000 square kilometres, the Far North Queensland (FNQ) region starts at Tully in the south, goes out to Croydon in the west and up to Thursday Island in the North and along the east coast. Main towns in the region include Atherton, Babinda, Cairns, Cooktown, Innisfail, Malanda, Mareeba, Mossman, Port Douglas, Thursday Island, Tully, and Weipa.
Across the region there are thriving regional cities, small, close knit farming towns, culturally unique island communities and everything in between. There is an international airport that flies directly to major destinations within Australia and Asia.

Training in Far North Queensland
There are more than 50 medical services, including 11 hospitals, where you can complete your GP training. With over 30 ACCRM and 50 RACGP accredited training posts, no matter which college you choose to undertake your fellowship through, there are training posts that will help you achieve your goal of being a GP. Some sites have the added benefit of visiting specialists and allied health practitioners on a regular basis.

End-to-end support throughout your GP training journey is provided by our supportive local operational and Medical Education team who have close relationships with training posts, have been to the sites and will work with you to ensure you complete your Fellowship.
