Vale Professor Bob Pressey

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Professor Bob Pressey on Wednesday, 05 July 2023. Our condolences are with his family, friends, and colleagues.

Bob joined James Cook University in 2007 as a Professor and Chief Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies. His work in spatial planning solutions to diverse resource management problems transformed how we think about conservation.

Professor Bob Pressey’s research and engagement profoundly influenced policy, practice and the collaborative development of conservation decisions in Australia and across the globe. He leaves a truly remarkable legacy and his work will live on through the many researchers and students he worked with and trained throughout his career.

We will remember Bob for his incredible contributions to science, and his deep passion for the natural environment.
