Maths and chemistry preparatory and bridging subjects

Many health science and science courses have prerequisites of Queensland Year 12 Chemistry and/or Maths, in addition to the requirement of Queensland Year 12 English. For those applicants who have not completed these Queensland Year 12 subjects or their equivalents, JCU bridging subjects can be studied online within the Certificate of Higher Education.

The following subjects are available within the Certificate of Higher Education:

CH0020 Preparatory Chemistry

This subject is designed for students who do not have a Sound Achievement or better in Queensland Year 12 Chemistry or their equivalents, and who require this as a prerequisite for their chosen degree course.

MA0020 Preparatory Maths

This subject is designed for students who do not have a Sound Achievement or better in Queensland Year 12 Mathematics Methods or equivalent, and who require Mathematics Methods as a prerequisite for their degree course.

MA0022 Essential Maths

This subject is designed for students who do not have a C Achievement or better in a Queensland Year 12 General Mathematics (3/4) or equivalent, and who require General Mathematics as a pre-requisite for any course at JCU.

ED0195 Bridging Science for Teachers

This subject is designed for students who do not have a Sound Achievement or better in a Queensland Year 12 authority Science subject (or equivalent), and who require an authority Science subject as a prerequisite for the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) or Bachelor of Education (Primary).
