Laure is a first year Marine Biology undergraduate at JCU and proud Wiradjuri woman from the central highlands of central NSW. She is also a representative of the Coral Sea Foundation, which recently initiated the Sea Women Great Barrier Reef program to facilitate training and networking of First Nations women from around the Coral Sea arc. The program builds on the success of the award-winning Sea Women of Melanesia training program in Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands and operates from the Coral Sea Foundation base on Yunbenun (Magnetic Island) with the consent of the Wulgurukaba Traditional Owners where Laure currently resides.
Laure was recently appointed the Cultural Officer Representative of the JCU Marine Society and will be working with Traditional Custodian Groups and organisations to develop inclusive and unique events.
