Daniel McMahon

Daniel is a recent Honours graduate in Data Science and is currently working as a Research Assistant in computer vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) for the ITRH. His Honours project was in collaboration with the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm and involved the research and quantification of South Sea Pearl phenotypes through computer vision, statistical methods and AI. As a Research Assistant, he is able to continue to support this project by developing reproducible and objective methods to quantify colour for silver lipped oyster selective breeding programs. Additionally, he is supporting the adaptation of the AutoFish program to support the automation of Barramundi phenotyping in a real-life farm setting rather than in a lab.
