JCU offer a variety of opportunities for high school students to learn more about studying at a JCU campus and your future career. These specialised immersive programs are held throughout the year to gain practical skills and real career experience outside of the classroom. Be sure to register your interest so you are the first to know when applications open.
Get a sneak peek at the career of your dreams
The JCU Heroes programs have been designed to create a realistic experience of ‘a day in the life' of your chosen field. Students from all over North Queensland are offered the opportunity to attend these programs throughout the school year to gain practical skills and real career experience.


Programs specific to Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander students
Currently in year 12 and planning to study
This program runs at the end of the year for interested Indigenous school leavers, building capabilities in mathematics, English, chemistry and higher-education study skills.
In year 10, 11 or 12 and interested to learn more about uni life
Learn about your desired discipline and build the skills for you to succeed once you’re ready to enrol.
Empowering Tomorrow's First Nations Australian Marine Leaders
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in Marine Science (ATSIMS) Program provides opportunities to Year 10 Indigenous students to engage in marine science and marine management, citizen science, and the stewardship of Sea Country.

Led by current JCU students, the tours are the perfect opportunity to get a personal insight into uni life, the student experience and everything that JCU has to offer including our state-of-the-art campus facilities and student accommodation.
