History of the prize
This prize was founded in 1988 with a capital donation from Emeritus Professor Colin Roderick, Foundation Professor of English at James Cook University. The prize was originally awarded to the student who has achieved the highest pass in the Honours prerequisite subject, Critical Theory. Due to changes in JCU's subject structure, it is now awarded to the Bachelor of Arts student, majoring in English with the highest grade in any level 3 English Subject.
