History of the prize

The prize was inaugurated in 1984 by the Centaur Memorial Fund for Nurses. The prize was renamed the Joy Croker Centaur Silver Medal in 2004 in memory of Mrs Joy Croker who was President of the Fund.  The prize is awarded to the student obtaining the highest grade point average in the final year of the undergraduate nursing course at the university.

A silver medal, letter and a book based on the history of the Centaur as chosen by the Donor.
