The prize was founded in 2004 by the Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers and is maintained with annual donations from them. The prize is awarded to the Education student enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) or Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) (Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus or External) who achieved the highest overall result in their final Mathematics Education subject, ED3098 or ED3096.
