History of the prize
This prize was founded in 1997 and is maintained by the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine. The prize was renamed the Rick Speare Medal in 2018 in honour of the late Emeritus Professor Rick Speare AM (1947-2016). The prize is awarded to the graduating student in the Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine who has demonstrated the best overall performance.
