History of the prize
This prize was founded in 1980 and is maintained with a capital donation from E.S. and T. Martel, to encourage the study of Australian History, especially North Queensland regional history. The prize is awarded to the College of Arts, Society and Education student judged as the most promising scholar in Australian History.
