Volunteer Opportunities at OIRS

Occasionally, we host volunteers to assist OIRS staff with various maintenance and operational tasks. This includes helping to remove weeds and maintain Research Station facilities, contributing to the management of the beautiful Orpheus Island National Park. In return, volunteers are offered free accommodation and transfers to/from OIRS during their stay.

Please note:

• Volunteering at OIRS is not available for research projects. Our focus is on running the station and supporting visiting researchers and educators, not conducting or supervising individual research projects.
• The station does not offer research internships.
• We do, however, host university student placements as part of accredited academic programs.
