Katia Bazaka

Katia Bazaka first graduated from James Cook University in 2009 with a Masters of Business Administration and again in 2012 with a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering. Since graduating, Katia’s contributions to the field of plasma nanoscience and the application of plasmas to solve complex real-life challenges have been significant and have evolved to encompass major challenges of the time.

For her excellence in research she has received a plethora of awards including the 2019 Tall Poppy Award, the 2015 Young Scientist Award at the Future in Plasma Science Conference and the 2012 Gold Medal for Postgraduate Students from Australian Institute for Nuclear Science and Engineering. A prolific scholar, Katia’s publications have been extensively cited throughout her career. Her unique approach in using plasma technology to solve complex real-life challenges and her active engagement with industry has had a significant impact in her research field, and outside of academia.
