How to nominate

Nominations can be received from anyone, including members of the community, the alumni team, JCU Colleges and nominees themselves.

Nominees must demonstrate outstanding achievements in the category for which they are nominated. The nomination criteria help the selection panel make a sound assessment of each nomination so a recipient can be selected.

Please read the terms and conditions prior to submitting a nomination.

A complete nomination will include:

  • A completed nomination form;
  • Contact details for one referee who may be contacted to verify details of the nomination (full name, email, contact number, job title, employer and relationship to nominee);
  • Written statements addressing at least two of the selection criteria for the award category;
  • Current resume or a link to a well-developed LinkedIn profile that details career and achievements, professional positions, publications, presentations and qualifications;
  • Optional: a recent photo of nominee;
  • Optional: additional supporting evidence such as awards, media clippings, electronic media footage, etc.

Key dates

  • 8th December 2025:  Nominations open
  • 2nd March 2026: Nominations closed
  • Mid April 2026: Successful nominees contacted, unsuccessful nominators notified that their candidate was unsuccessful.
  • 28 Aug 2026: Announcement of recipients (Townsville campus).

The JCU Outstanding Alumni Awards recognise the excellence and achievements of JCU Alumni who have made outstanding contributions in their chosen field.

Nominations for open in December annually and close in early March, if you would like to bring the achievements of an  outstanding graduate to our attention outside the nomination period, please email alumni@jcu.edu.au.
